Title	Implementation and evaluation of a regional data assimilation system based on WRF-LETKF
Abstract	Data assimilation and numerical weather prediction are fundamental parts of modern weather forecast. In this talk the current situation in operational numerical weather prediction and data assimilation in Argentina will be presented. Recently many efforts has been made for the implementation and development of the operational regional data assimilation system based on the Local Ensemble Transform Kalman filter coupled with the Weather Research and Forecasting model (Miyoshi and Kunii 2011). In this talk preliminary results of the evaluation of this system over South America will be presented at different spatial and temporal scales. The sensitivity of regional data assimilation systems to different configuration choices will also be discussed using idealized and real observation experiments.
