[Session 2] Big Data Assimilation

[2-5] Special

Design Consideration for Data Assimilation in Post K Supercomputer

Yutaka Ishikawa (RIKEN AICS), Tomoyuki Saito (University of Tokyo), and Balazs Gerofi (RIKEN AICS)

Abstract

RIKEN AICS started to design and develop the successor of the K supercomputer, so far called Post K, based on a many-core architecture. It will be generally operated in 2020. One of the important applications in Post K is meteorological and global environmental predictions with observational "Big Data" assimilation. In this talk, an overview of the current design status of Post K and how the workflow of this application impacts on the Post K design in the system software will be presented.
